This is a guide on rooting the UIS7862 Android Head Unit. Most of the current 3rd party Android head unit on the market is based on the UIS7862.

One of the main reasons I needed to root the UIS7862 was to turn off Bluetooth; as there was no setting on the UIS7862 to turn off, rooting was the only way.

Prerequisites

  • UIS7862 Android Car Head Unit (Any kind as long as the processor is UIS7862)
  • USB Ports on the Android Head Unit
  • 4GB or 8GB thumbdrive
  • Files to download before you start the steps

Before Rooting

Step 1 - Backup your Android headunit image

  1. Format a thumbdrive in FAT32 format
  2. Extract AndroidUIS7862Backup.zip into the thumbdrive
  3. Plug the thumbdrive into any USB port on the UIS7862
  4. A screen will appear to say “Firmware starting” with a countdown timer.
  5. The Android head unit will restart and start to backup, once the backup is complete, the Android player will reboot.
  6. A folder will be created on the thumbdrive call “Backup”
  7. Keep this safe as this is important.

NOTE: If you receive a lsec6315update error. Download the correct lsec6315update from http://joyingauto.com - Find the correct UIS7862 and download the whole image, extract and copy over the lsec6315update.

Step 2 - Rooting the Android UIS7862

  1. Format a thumbdrive in FAT32 format
  2. Extract Universal_ROOT_7862_9863_8141_9853.zip into the thumbdrive
  3. Plug the thumbdrive into any USB port on the UIS7862
  4. A screen will appear to say “Firmware starting” with a countdown timer.
  5. The Android head unit will restart and start the rooting process. After complete the Android player will reboot.

Step 3 - Installing Magisk

  1. Once it is done, we need to install Magisk to achieve root.
  2. Download Magisk from their official github Magisk.apk

Click on Direct Install -> lets Go

Step 4 - You are done!

Congratulation, you have rooted your Android head unit.
